About the Visionary/Builder/Artist:
I have been gifted with the ability to create.
Years of developing an array of skills with natural materials such as wood, bamboo, stone, and also at times exploring working with products such as silk, acrylic and fabric.
It is my great joy to share and explore shapes and forms, visual and tactile. My best work comes to me in visions or even sometimes as mistakes that force another route than what was intended.
I think I was maybe in an ancient Nippon culture at one time, as my work and creations take on a decidedly Asian slant. For me, Japanese tea houses are built easily without any plans or drawings.
An example of what is different about my art is that, I can’t contain my desire to stretch out a picture frame to go beyond expected boundaries. This, in turn, brings us into the realm of the “celestials”, as the cowboys used to call the people from the orient.
Even though I grew up in the Mojave Desert with its vast and sometimes hidden beauty, having a bamboo patch in our backyard afforded much time for me to familiarize myself with and assimilate the DNA of the bamboo plant. So, I have an affinity for this tall grass and an ability to work with it intuitively.
My work extends from exteriors and interiors, of building and remodeling, to the creation of fine art sculptures. Then we have the Samurai birdhouses and award winning Landscape structures.
Furniture designing is also a passion for me. This includes lamps, tables, shelves, foot stools. Last but not least are beautiful ice cream scoops made with brass and exotic woods.
